Spring Community Employment Day

Centenary University Community Employment Day is one week away!  Here's some information you'll need to know....

 

Location:

Centenary University Lackland Building

Please enter campus via Grand Avenue entrance next to Tannery Field.

Parking:

Special Visitor Parking Lot (19)

Located next to the David and Carol Lackland Center for Performing Arts.

(strongly recommended if carrying equipment)

 

Founders Parking Lot (21)

Located at the rear of campus. Accessed from Third Avenue via Grand Avenue next to Tannery Field.

 

Entrance:

The Lackland Center main entrance where you will check in at the entrance. For a sneak peek, take a virtual tour of the Lackland Center here.

Interviewing Tips and Tricks:

10:30-11:30

Room 253 (second floor)

Lunch Available for Purchase:

11:30-12:30

Dining Hall (1st floor)

 

Employer Expo

12:30-4:00pm

 

The 4-5pm Women in Business panel is postponed until the fall.

 

How You Should Dress:

We suggest to wear something similar to what you would wear to an interview but this is not completely necessary.  Not sure what is interview attire?

-darks pants and dress shirt

-a skirt and dress shirt (as close to the knee as possible)

-a business casual dress (as close to the knee as possible)

-it is customary to wear close toe shoes

That said, this is not required.  This is not an interview. It's an informal opportunity for you to learn about the businesses in attendance and the jobs they have available. It's also a great opportunity to meet employers face to face and be more than a name on a resume.

 

What You May Wish to Bring:

-resume (but not necessary if you don't have one)

-a pen and notepad

 

COVID Protocols

 All non-vaccinated are required to wear masks indoors on campus. Masks are currently optional for the vaccinated but strongly encouraged at public events. Please note that these policies change daily so please bring a mask.

 

Lunch:

 Lunch or snacks can be purchased at any time in the Dining Hall in the Lackland Center.

Rules of the $100 Visa Gift Card Giveaway

 One lucky winner will win a $100 Visa Gift Card towards a new career wardrobe.  To be eligible, you must have a significant conversation with 10 different employers.  Don't worry, we have you covered on what to say. We'll supply you with a list of various questions you can ask. You'll need to ask three questions about their company and tell the recruiter about yourself. They will then sign off on your sheet. Once you have signatures from 10 employers, bring your sheet to the check in desk for an entry card.  It's okay to speak to recruiters of companies that may not interest you. Remember, just because it's an engineering firm, doesn't mean they don't need writers.  Speaking to numerous employers will only give you more experience and comfort talking to recruiters.
